Robot Mini Golf with CodeJoy

What You'll Do:

Elby the Robot has been playing the same mini golf course for years and has yet to get a golf ball into a hole. It turns out that this mini golf course is not entirely playable. Help Elby by reprogramming the mini golf obstacles to give him a shot at scoring a hole in one.

Join the CodeJoy classroom to learn the basics of coding and explore motors and LEDs. A computer or Chromebook is required for you to interact with our in-studio robots. No experience with coding or other robotics tools are required – this is a fully virtual, interactive experience!

Skill Level:

Must be able to: log on to Zoom or other video platform from a Chromebook or laptop. No coding experience necessary.

Skills you will learn:

Computer Science : loops, position servo motors, rotation servo motors, pause blocks, LEDs Engineering: cardboard maker techniques Socio-Emotional : how to recognize and fix a rigged system

About the Facilitator:

CodeJoy formed in the fall of 2019. Kelsey Derringer, CEO, brings nearly 20 years of teaching in the areas of teacher PD, STEM, ELA, and even ballet. Matt Chilbert, COO, brings deep roots in educational media, having worked for The Jim Henson Company and Sesame Workshop, and 10 years of teaching experience in maker education. They met while working for an educational robotics company. Together, they envisioned a live, interactive, educational experience enabled by remote robotics. Since launching they’ve served hundreds of learners with over 100 online classes for organizations such as UNICEF, the Berkeley Girls in Engineering summer camp, Make: Media, and the Dayton Boys and Girls Club.
